About ME

As an artist I find myself drawn towards horror and other creepy media. I have  always enjoyed the unsettling way that a good piece of practical effects and fake blood makes me feel, and I aim to inspire that feeling in my audience. Creatures and monsters and how they can be used to reflect my experience as a queer person has always made me feel more seen and understood. I have always felt like I often stand out considering the fact that I am a gender non-conforming individual and I hope to reflect that outsider feeling in my work. I enjoy making the unsettling into an empathetic creature for the audience to relate to or see themselves in. I hope to tell the stories of my peers and fellow queer people with my art, and hope that they can see themselves in it as well as having others empathize with the queer experience.

Ever since I was young I had a passion for art and for the strange and unusual. It started when I watched Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal for the first time and wasn’t horrified by the puppets; rather I was enchanted by how they moved and how real they all seemed. As I grew older I was drawn to 2D media such as painting and animation, but soon I found sculpture. It was much more enjoyable for me since it was more hands on and tactile. I also found that it was easier for me to communicate my meanings through sculpture. The more kinetic medium was helpful for me to put more emotion into my artworks. It didn’t take me long to start doing activism based artworks considering the fact that I am queer and neurodivergent. Now I combine my passion for puppets, practical effects and horror with a message about embracing the other and breaking out of the mold society has made for people like me.
